Believe it or not, Geralt is a professor. Not an Indiana Jones style, gung-ho archaeology professor, but the course leader of acting at the Arts University of Bournemouth in the UK.
The famous voice behind Geralt of Rivia is Doug Cockle, a part-time voice actor, part-time actor, and full time professor with a kick-ass voice. He started his acting career with a few movies and TV shows before landing an audition by chance for the original Witcher. After the Witcher was approved for a sequel, he wasn’t called back. He was a little mad, so he decided to head to the new studio to audition for the role that he had already won a few years before. No surprise, he got it. After the success of the first two, Cockle was a no brainer to play Geralt for The Witcher 3.
As we all know, the Witcher 3 was a smashing success – it beat out huge games like Fallout 4 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for Game of the Year 2015. However, despite how well the game did, Doug Cockle remains a professor by day and a witcher by night – hopefully we’ll get to hear more of his work sometime soon.
